When trying to decide on a wedding gift there are several things that must be considered. This is because times have changed considerable from when our grandparents first got married and now the institution of marriage is looked upon differently. It is true that the divorce rate has gone up considerably since our grandparents time and this is something that many people take into consideration when purchasing a wedding gift.

If you aren't willing to “Bet high” on the actual longevity of the marriage then you may consider gifting the new couple with something such as a certificate for dinner for two at a nice restaurant. In this way you can help them to actually enjoy what time they have together in the marriage better. One thing that you don't want to do is to spend good money on as gift that they already have or don't really need.

If you have any questions regarding these two things then you may want to include the receipt in with the gift with a small note explaining why you did it. This way they can then return the gift to get something that they really will need and use. Gift certificates make great wedding gifts and when you give a gift certificate you insure that the couple will get exactly what they want and they can acquire

it at their leisure.

No matter how tempted you are, don't waste your money on any joke gifts. It might seem funny to you but not everyone always has the same sense of humor that you have. Always remember that no mater what you feel a wedding is a special time for the people getting married and you should recognize the fact that they are trying to do the right thing and not just “shackin up.”
